Getting here
The inn is at 4758 Route 100A in Plymouth, Vermont, right where Route 100A meets Route 100, on the Vermont scenic byway between Killington and Okemo. Most GPS apps find "Salt Ash Inn" directly.
Vermont takes its speed limits seriously. The limit drops to 35 mph as you come into the corner by the inn, and the sheriff is often parked nearby.
Parking
There are 20 free parking spaces. Use the lot on the inn’s side of the road, the one farther from the corner. The lot is shared, so please never park in front of the neighbor’s house or garage; with a lot of cars, use the far side of the building down toward the guard rail. Please do not use the small lot by the corner.
Check-in and check-out
Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. We send the door code and arrival details by email before your stay.
Come in through the door from the parking lot, the one with the keypad lock. Treat it as the main entrance: the front door faces the road, and there is no safe way to walk around to it in winter.
Rooms and heat
Every bedroom has its own thermostat and cable TV. The thermostats go up to 68°F; it is a 200-year-old building with old boilers and they cannot make it warmer than that. Rooms are small and re-heat in about twenty minutes, so please turn the heat down when you head out for the day.
- Please leave the first-floor thermostats alone, including the game-room fireplace. They are set to keep the pipes from freezing.
- The big TV in the sitting room has Google TV; sign out of your accounts before you leave.
The bar and game room
The bar and game room is a private space for your group; it is never open to the public. We do not have a liquor license, so no alcohol is provided or sold. Bring your own.
Kitchen
The kitchen is a converted commercial kitchen stocked with pots, pans, dishes and the basics. You cook on a regular full-size Samsung range; the old commercial range in the room is not connected, and neither is the glass sanitizer by the sink. Turn on the vent fan when you cook (the switch is on the cabinet below the sink, to the right). The commercial sink has a high-pressure sprayer that makes dishes quick.
Trash and recycling
Clear trash bags are in the dining room and the game room. Recycling is single-stream: paper, cardboard, glass, bottles, cans and plastic food containers all go together in the two big cans next to the dumpster; everything else goes in the dumpster. The dumpster is in the parking lot: out the front door, turn right off the porch. Please close the lid gently late at night; it echoes.
Smoking
No smoking of anything indoors; this is an old wooden building. Smoking is fine outside. Please put butts in the cans by the doors and never on the ground: they are toxic to dogs and wildlife.
The inn is a cannabis-friendly property, and Green Union Dispensary is next door. About Green Union and our cannabis-friendly policy.
Pets
Pets are welcome. Tell us about yours when you inquire.
Backyard
The backyard is off limits during the winter due to weather.
Booking direct
There is no online checkout here. Send an inquiry with your dates and we reply by email, usually within a day, to confirm availability and the price. Direct bookings use our short standard rental agreement, and payment is arranged with us by email. Booking direct skips Airbnb’s $350 cleaning fee.
If you would rather book through Airbnb, the same inn is listed there and the calendar on this site shows the same availability.
